Death of Lydia, whats your story

Clearly, there will be spoilers in this thread. Okay, we all have a Lydia story. I've never seen a character more simultaneously loved and hated. What is your Lydia story?

I was in Hillgrund's Tomb with Lydia and Golldir. We went into a small chamber to kill a standing asleep draugr and Lydia did what Lydia does best... stood in the doorway. I jump over her shoulder and immediately go back into sneak mode forcing Lydia and Golldir into sneak mode as well. I look back to see how they are doing and they are nose to nose in sneak mode with Lydia blocking the door and Golldir stuck on the inside.

Then out of the blue Golldir shield bashed Lydia in the nose.

They fight.

Curious I back up and watch and I was surprised when Golldir killed her. Dead. Just like that, there she lay. Taken down by a milk drinker.

(A draugr had come up by that time and was firing some ice attack on them, I shot the draugr so they could finish their fight, but Golldir sent her to her knees and she still was all frosty from the draugr still. I discovered that effects such as poison or ice will still work when a follower goes to their knees and that must have been what finished her off. )

Everytiime I pass one of those swinging gate traps I always turn to watch my follower get smashed. I get disappointed when they somehow manage to miss the trigger. I will miss watching Lydia get smashed.

I think I speak for all of us when I say: High Hrothgar. Unrelenting Force.

I and Lydia were once in a Nord ruin, fighting a draugr. I fus-ro-dah'd the draugr, and it died, but Lydia also got hit... and disappeared altogether! All that was left was her sword laying on the floor. I thought "Omg, that was a powerful shout! I disintegrated Lydia!" Then some time and some draugr later, when I entered the boss chamber... there was Lydia. Dead. I hadn't made her disappear, but shouted her through the walls.

One thing I hate is when I meet a frost troll at low level and Lydia's with me. Because she just HAS to fight the damn frost troll. The damage I can deal to the frost troll equals its health generation, so shooting or casting fire at it is pointless, and Lydia goes down on her knees, gets up and cries something heroic, frost troll comes - BAM - Lydia is down on her knees again and so it continues forever.

She failed to be able to date all of my burdens. So I shouted her off a cliff.

1. Took her to a giant camp when I grew tire of her spying on my character and her husband in their bedroom. Thought that would do the trick, especially since this was pre-follower-levelling fix and Lydia was like level 10 or something. I watched two giants bash her with their clubs, cowardly ran away and thought that was that.
Wrong.
Two minutes later, Lydia comes running after me.
I had to take her back to the camp and finish the job myself, then went home and told hubby "Lydia had an accident..." :P

2. My second character rained unholy destruction on the Thalmor at Northwatch Keep together with Lydia, Avulstein Gray-Mane and his two buddies. Lyda didn't make it. My character took her armor to wear as a little hommage (this was very early on in the game, so her steel armor was actually an upgrade for me).

3. My third character never bothered with buying Breezehome, so Lydia never became a problem. He didn't use her as a follower either, just let her stay at Dragonsreach.

4. Fourth time around, my character took Lydia on a little stroll over the tundra. They were attacked by one of those random Bretons-Redguards-Altmer-whatever, and whoops! Lydia got hit by a fireball and died.

As far as Sorin is concerned, Lydia isn't dead.

She just disappeared.

...

It's very mysterious. Sorin hopes that the Jarl's search party finds some sort of information about her whereabouts (though they won't. Ever.)

I don't use companions. Lunpa prefers not have ANY witnesses to his theft.
