NPC Idea

Post » Wed Feb 06, 2013 5:58 am

So, as you know, when you walk by an NPC, they usually give some little speech about how they love the Cloud District or work at a General Goods store or some such. Then, if you press the "talk" button, they might say something else, and then every subsequent attempt to talk to them results in a continued response of "Hello." or "Need Something?". So, my idea is to switch that. When you walk down the streets of a city, have the people say "Hello". Then, if you choose to talk to them, they give you their life story. I think this would be more realistic and less annoying. What do you think of this idea?

No. I like Nazeem's comments.

Would you tell your life story to a stranger that randomly says hi to you? I think there should be more sensible remarks, like "sorry I'm busy", or "I'm kinda in a rush".

I think it's downright brilliant.

Such a simple yet brilliant idea. Why they did it like it is I'll never know.

You can still hear them. He just won't say them to you unless he is talking to you. Besides, he can still have a very supercilious "hello", just not a little speech to some guy walking down the street.
