Epic start to an epic journey!

Hi all, thought I'd share my first time experience on Rage with everybody...

This has been an epic journey of note and it is only the beginning, here's the highlights:

...Bought ID's latest game Rage last year on special for about $10.
...Got home and got the shock of my life when Steam started downloading a 19 GB!!!! patch for it over my 50kbit/s 3G local GSM access in South Africa!!!
...Took me about 6 days of continuous download before a power failure wiped the 10GB download progress!!!
...Became depressed and deeply saddened (almost to the point of drinking) and abandoned my efforts for a month...
...Scraqed the courage together to try again and got it downloaded in about 9 days...
...Started the game and got a blank screen with a flickering green square in the one corner while the game ran in the background with sound effects and all...
...Became depressed and deeply saddened (almost to the point of drinking) and abandoned my efforts for a week or two...
...Then started searching for the latest ATI drivers for my GFX card, found one of another 100MB download which I got after 3 unsuccessful and corrupted file attempts from different sites...
...Tried installing it 2 nights in a row after getting Windows @ Installer error crashes...
...Finally got the latest driver installed only to wait a couple of hours for Steam to run a major Steam engine patch...
...Launched the game for the 100th time last night, not expecting any success with the previous track record to go one and... TADAAAAA! IT WORK!
...Became depressed and deeply saddened (almost to the point of drinking) OUT OF SHOCK and abandoned my efforts for a few minutes...
...Started the game and grinned sheepishly after picking my jaw up off the ground at the stunning graphics even with my data system...
...Played a few hours until after midnight and 'sneaked' around for the first few missions just gawking at the awesome levels and attention to detail!!!

Would love to see this run on a new GPU and CPU rig but the budget doesn't allow for it in the foreseeable future, will continue to marvel at the long awaited beauty of this ID Software gem :D

.... wanders around the office with a glazed look while reminiscing on the marvelous adventure of last night and thinking of ways to contract a flu virus in order to stay at home for a few days and get lost in the gorgeous post-apocalyptic world of RAGE....

NB. No electrons were harmed in the re-enactment of this tale, they were merely displaced at a very slow rate (50kbits/s!) and accumulated en mass in their new digital home on my hard drive... :D
