Bretons in the war

So basically ever since I got Skyrim when it was released I been playing a Breton the majority of the time. I however decided to read up about the race and on the wikia there are two Breton pages. A overall page for Bretons in general and then a page for Bretons in skyrim.

So as some know, Bretons are apparently half human and half elf.

I look at the civil war as a small war between elf(Altmer) vs human(nord). So for RP purposes it could be a toss up. Maybe you want to provide the nords magic and to gain yourself a name within Skyrim considering, according to a certain dark elf, nords are racist. Maybe you want to support your elven pride and indirectly help the altmer by joining the empire to stop the rebellion.

To add a twist to everything I read that the forsworn are primarily, if not mostly, made up of Bretons. Now even though their isn't too much story behind the forsworn we know that Ulfric drove them out or Markarth? Something similar I can't remember but that could mean that you would rather help your fellow bretons or scared Ulfric might see you as a forsworn agent and deal with you some day.

so as a breton and knowing this information, what side of the civil war would you choose to fit your character. This isn't about which side is more fun, we're well beyond that by a year, but more RP friendly for your breton. Also feel free to correct me on anything. Been playing since Morrowind but never really dived into the lore very much even in Skyrim.

The Bretons are neutral in the Civil War as they don't want to support the losing side. The Bretons don't like the Reachmen and even consider them savages considering the dialogue from the Breton cook in Markarth. Also, Breton are men and the Thalmor would likely kill Bretons for being hybrids.

If you wanted to help the Dominion in the long run, you might as well join the Stormcloaks to weaken the empire further.

Except the dossier says "A Stormcloak victory is to be avoided" so the Thalmor don't want a Stormcloak victory as much as they don't want an Imperial victory

Interesting that the Bretons don't want to support the losing side. Like I said I don't know a whole lot about TES lore but does that imply that Bretons are a proud race?

As for the Thalmors killing Bretons for being hypbrids, you think they would kill a Breton on sight solely because he is a hybrid? As if they be an abomination?

Also wanted to add that obviously Altmer see them selves as a superior race, especially now, but do they not feel any connection towards other elf races? I mean they might not be Altmer but but they are still elves. I guess the reason this is so confusing as far as relations between races go is because the Thalmor never really act as a superior power I felt. Maybe a little insult here and there but at times I feel they act friendly like "We want what is best" but at the same time it's like "jk you svck, we are gonna rule Tamerial"

The Hybridization is not their fault. I think.
