Class distiction?

Post » Sat Feb 09, 2013 2:59 pm

I have been following the game for some time. I have listened to every interview, (at least i think i have).

I understand the concept of the fact we can wear any armour we can use any weapons and become profiecent with these weapons over time/use. But will there still be class distinctions and skill tree's?? Or are we going down the road of a mage can wear plate and use a double bladed axe like a warrior. Where can i find a link or do any of you have more info on this.

Will mage's be more effective in cloth (faster cast time's/more damage). Just the basics we have come to expect in most MMO's. I was not a fan of games like Darkfall. Everyone running around in plate casting spells.

D,

The part that will make grouping fun in ESO is skills that players have that work in synergy with skills other players have. Your role in the fight will be to use your synergy skill at the right time to make it so your group wins.

Not 100% sure where the source is located, but I believe classes are intended to give a basic direction and a basic set of abilities. I don't know how much of your abilities come from the class you choose, but I think by having a weapon proficiency you unlock abilities specific to that weapon type. I think, though once again I don't remember off the top of my head where I heard it, that heavy armor will give some sort of disadvantage in comparison to unarmored, but I'm almost positive a heavy armor mage build will be just as viable.

D,

My understanding is that lighter armour will have more magika/power while heavier will have more stamina/health. medium is more stamina /power.
I hope to see variance like health/magika heavy armour, but since heavier amour have more armour value, the other stats will probably be lessened.
so a cloth armour mage will have more magika and will deal more damage tan a heavy armoured one, but the latter being much more resilient
here some quote from the foundry
The major attributes of the game are health, stamina, magicka, armor, and power. At each level up, you can place an attribute point into either health, stamina, or magicka. The placement of these points additionally unlocks additional passive perks which allow you to further customize your character’s role.

From what I've read, I gather that there will in fact be defined classes and class-specific skills, but we haven't seen a lot of examples.

Maybe you get a bonus for wearing a full set of cloth/plate or -10% casting time penalty for each item of plate you wear to deter fully decked out mages in plate.

And speaking of class distiction, I would really like to see instead of warrior, rogue, mage, cleric...something rather along the lines of your title being your current highest skill. So no more "Lvl 50 Warrior", something more like "Lvl 50 Master Swordsman", "Lvl 42 Expert Thief" or , "Lvl 14 Apprentice Blacksmith". So pretty much if your three highest skills are 27 1h swords/20 smithy/ 20 shield you can choose which you want to display to the world. In this particular case i it would be either Adept Swordsman/Novice Blacksmith/Novice Basher (lol) This would really allow players to uniquely stand out and personalize there experience.

bonus for wearing a full set of cloth/plate - that could really be cool, but... I like to make strange hybrid :(
also, why deter mage from being in heavy amour? you just need to make magika enhance heavy armour rarer and statically less atrative than cloth armour and people will take cloth over plate any time unless they actually need more stamina/ health and are willing to sacrifice magica / power for it. isn't it auto balancing? "there's a reason we, mages, used cloth over plate; if you'r going to throw spell all day, you need that extra magica! also power is always welcome!"

also advance title system would be real cool, more option yea!
