They are adding new Daedric Princes?

Post » Sun Feb 10, 2013 6:19 am

I'm pretty sure there are only 16 daedric princes (17 if you count Jyggalag) but on the Ask Us Anything: Variety Pack someone asked if there would be new ones. They replied the planes of Oblivion are infinite does this mean they are adding new Daedric princes? Doesn't this go against lore?

Yes, it does go against lore, and they probably will not add any. If they do, it will probably have the same effect as reintroducing the dwemer. ie, it will completely and utterly destroy any chance of success the game might have because all the single player fans (myself included) will make sure of it.

I hope they will not do this... It would be like WoW all over again where they just trashed the lore and story of warcraft.

That's not how it works..

Besides, they've pretty much exhausted all of the spheres with 16 princes, there can't be too many other things for a prince to have dominion over.

Well there are several people over in the lore forums who'll dispute that.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure that the stars in the night sky of Nirn are in fact individual Daedra Princes.

They are not. They are holes to Aetherius left behind by the Magna-Ge when they followed Magnus back out of disgust of creation. The sun is the hole left by Magnus.

If a new prince was to enter the world, why have we not seen or heard about him/ her in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, since you know, those games take place AFTER The Elder Scrolls Online... I don't remember reading about other princes in any books within those games.

No stars are holes in Aetherius

I don't know how they plan to do the lore, I don't concern myself with their jobs.

My opinion is that if they can somehow come up with a new aspect for the Prince, and have him be even mildly interesting and believable, then I'll be happy.

In my opinion Zenimax's reply was a VERY clear indication that we will see new Princes.

If we would not see new Princes, the Developers would just have said so. The only reason to beat around the bush is when you have a suprize ready.

I don't see the burning need for them or from them to add more daedric princes or princesses, it was just a comment to get us to start threads like this so that maybe we will forget about the other stuff they are doing like faction locks, etc
