Graphics don't make the game

Post » Tue Feb 12, 2013 3:17 pm

I see lots of PC vs Console arguments and it mostly boils down to the graphical capabilities of the PC.
I have a gaming PC, sure it looks great. PC is my preferred platform, but I can't stand the "PC gaming master race" mindset.

I've been playing Halo 4 on my 360 and it looks more than acceptable.

It COULD look better, but it doesn't need to. The gameplay is great and that is what matters most.

A game could be photorealistic and still be horrible if it can't hold your attention.

Its a bit of a rant. Not trying to start a flamewar, just want to know your opinion on how much graphics effect the quality of the game.

People aren't arguing that graphics make one game better than another, they're saying it makes a game "better than itself". When you are offered two mediums that are exactly the same in every way except that one is more visually appealing, that the visually appealing one is better.

Also, PC has keyboard and mouse, which are better in the first place.

This has been discussed to death. Most would agree that graphics don't make a game, but to a certain degree graphics are somewhat needed for a decent experience.

Depends on the type of game.
Games like The Elder Scrolls 1-2 a keyboard and mouse works fine.
Games like TES III: Morrowind either a keyboard & Mouse or gamepad (controller) will work fine.
Games like flight sims a joystick.
Games like FPS depends on the players, some might like the keyboard and mouse others might like the gamepad (controller).

Of course they make the game. Otherwise you could just read a book. :bolt:
