In all seriousness, as incredible as this is, it svcks that people have been injured by them. Hopes and prayers out to those people in the region that no-one gets killed or too dangerously injured

It obviously was a bigger threat than what was told to us, not surprisingly.
But... before we can have any adequate planetary defences to ward off any such inanimate object, we have our own miserable lot to deal with. That of society and its cruel machinations..

Bill Nye was just on CNN and said the two are unrelated.

NASA is also covering the Asteroid '2012 DA14' http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.htmlstarting at 2PM EST. From NASA's wbesite, "At the time of its closest approach to Earth at approximately 2:25 p.m. EST (11:25 a.m. PST/ 19:25 UTC), the asteroid will be about 17,150 miles (27,600 kilometers) above Earth's surface."
