No battlegrounds!

I would like to discuss battle ground PVP for a second and express my opinion on this matter. I believe if you truly enjoy open world pvp, battlegrounds would destroy this form of PVP that we have not seen in YEARS!... Reason being what will motivate people to go to cyrodill when they can just que up and enter a cheesy death match style fight? It would drastically reduce the population on cyrodill, unless you made the rewards on cyrodill worth giving up battle grounds for. Many MMOs have this battle ground/open world PVP type deal, and the fact is open world pvp ends up being a huge empty place you would spend literally hours roaming around looking for a fight. I’ve seen this happen in SWTOR and ive seen it happen in WOW. And I can’t but help to think what would cause this and the only thing I can come up with is battlegrounds.

a lot of people actualy prefer battlegrounds though over open world pvp. this post to me sounds like "dont give them battlegrounds so my open world will be better". either way i am pretty sure its been said there will be no battlegrounds so you should not worry. i feel battlegrounds should be in game but for lower levels. i hate the idea of people "leveling up" when they enter open world pvp. that leveling up feature is also why i feel this game will be more focused on pvp than pve

I highly doubt the leveling up would be any way more beneficial then leveling up the good old fashion way.

I love battlegrounds, I hope they include or add them later. They're fun, they're tactical, they're shorter (faster gratification) than the Cyrodiil thing. They're more focused, it's easier to communicate with your team. Cyrodiil is too big and takes too much time for somebody who wants to play 15-30 minutes, and it can be a waste if all you accomplish in 30 minutes is die twice and hit a locked gate with your sword 359 times and then die again and then disconnect it's time for bed. That's exactly where tactical bg's shine, they're smaller, more focused and easier to control skirmishes for the players who love pvp and don't like being a tiny little particle in the big, brownian zerg. I used to login in WoW just to do an alterac or two warsongs, it was fun and my personal input was more meaningful.

AoC had both minigames(Battlegrounds) and open-world PvP and sieging(Cyrodiil type of gameplay).
And all of them went on.

Yes open-world PvP is fun and exciting especially at the exploring stages of the game. But I think PvP'ers also need some organised PvP(Arenas and/or Battlegrounds) to get gear etc. (an equivalent to PvE raiding).
Why do we not see please "no pve 6man dungeons please"-posts ?

And we need objectivebased PvP (but I Guess we got Cyrodiil for that).

Your right about the dungeons, but i just don't feel that including battle grounds would be that much better than cyrodill. I do agree on adding something like arenas to make it more personalized but other than that its emergence breaking. If i want to play death matches i got tons of FPS i can play.

It has already been said that battleground type pvp will be in the game. Brian Wheeler said it himself. He said it was "standard" in an MMO and that they'll add something for everyone. With the megaserver technology I don;t think they'll have a problem with getting enough people for multiple phases of Cyrodiil. On top of that i get what you're saying, but I think population in the open world PvP areas will be just fine. They are extremely excited about Cyrodiils PvP. Don't think they'd hinder it as much as you'd think. They could always do things to help involvement. Say if you want to go into a BG you'd first have to walk to its entry point thats located in Cyrodiil.
