I'm so tired of the discontent for TESO

Post » Wed Feb 20, 2013 12:40 am

Lately I've been tired of seeing all the posts complaining about the mistakes they're making with this game when it's not even in its beta stage yet. Things can change during beta, and much can happen, so it just blows my mind that some people keep worrying about things which they can't change and which might change anyways, without their involvement. Can't we give Zenimax the benefit of the doubt? Bethesda placed their trust in this studio and so that's good enough for me for now at least. What are your opinions?

Best give up on the internet then. Its a vocal minority who dominates forums. They may be fans or haters but they're a tiny number of people.

Everyone's entitled to their opinions, just don't let the naysayers get to you. People have learned to be skeptical because many promise what they cannot deliver when it comes to MMO development. Its a basic defense mechanism.

I am just eager to see what ZO delivers. There really are no make-or-break aspects of this game for me. I will probably play it no matter what, and if I like it, I will stick with it.

I just think they're making a mistake making another "Warcraft" MMO. They could have been more innovative, but instead are going to use the same button-timer style of skills and abilities to go along with combat. Look no further than SWTOR. I love that game, but it is an old model they used and people lost interest in it quickly, though they were a bit innovative by making the play a bit more enticing by giving each class a story to follow.

its irrelevant what people say in these forums, or it should in a developer point of view.

if they want massive feedback on something they ask or make a poll in twitter or facebook or something.

My opinion is that everybody has an opinion, and we all like to complain about one thing or another. :D

Seriously, though. If Zenimax is reading here, and one has a concern, wouldn't one want to make it known? And, if they're not reading here, what possible difference would it make?

I understand what you're saying. The complaining and worrying does get repetitive. But the nature of a forum like this is that everything gets repetitive. Every single thing that can be said, pro or con, gets said over and over again, and debated endlessly. (Including the subject of "this complaining keeps happening.")

A lot of the problem is that there's very little new information to talk about, so everybody keeps rehashing the same old stuff. It's human nature to try to fill the silence.

Skills don't have cooldowns, and combat is more akin to Skyrim than WoW. Where did you get the "button timer" thing from?

I agree with you. That whole using any ability at any time provided you have enough stamina is exactly like the WoW-style of global cooldowns and timers.

That was sarcasm on my part, by the way.

The thing is if you never complain, then the developer just assumes everything is perfect and proceeds according to their plan. That is the whole point of alpha testing, and beta testing, its to find things the developer made mistakes on and tell them about it, then if they think you are right they will make a change. As long as no one ever complains they will think everything is perfect and no changes will be made. I have been in a lot of testing programs, I am currently in an Alpha test for a different MMO, and the developer likes it when you post about things you do not like in the game, how else will they ever know how good or bad their game is?

Don't kid yourself, Zenimax knows what is going on in these forums. They may not look at it daily or anything like that, but I can garantee you that someone in Zenimax looks here occasionally and gives feedback reports to their team, this is why this forum exists.

I do believe it's too early to start claiming, "DEVs are doing this and this wrong." However, I'll admit that the ONLY thing I think I've personally had any qualms with is the reluctance to having player housing. I don't care if it's at release or not. I just would like to see a definite "Yes, we're doing it. When? Not sure yet."

I am personally tired of all the posts complaining about other forums posts.

For better or worse, Forums exist specifically for people to voice their opinions and speak their minds about their preceptions of the game.
