I just purchased the game, and I am stuck at the beginning of the game around the
point where you give the "dragonstone" to farengar and presumably wait for the next
quest to start. After giving farengar the dragonstone I get the message "bleak fall
burrows completed" then nothing happens. The idiot character "delphine" says nothing
except "get away from me" and the other idiot character "irileth" fails to appear at all.
I can go no further at this point.
I have NO game mods installed, none. I tried restarting from an earlier save several
times and always get the quest initiated properly from farengar first and I get this bug
every time.
I have tried this with and without doing the riverwood vendors quest concurrently and
with and without returning the claw to the riverwood vendor first.
I have tried cycling through quests mq103 and mq104 and setting various stages up
to and including the endstage, and also used the "completequest" console command.
These do not solve the problem.
I even tried creating a new character and still the same thing happens, several times
so far. I am not going to waste my time doing this again.
Can someone tell me what specifically causes this bug and how to get around it?
