Can we finally kill the PvEPvP build distinctions?

Am I the only one that thinks "building out" your character in different ways for PvP and/or PvE is silly? I've always thought that in a decent world, a strong character would be a strong character, no matter what they face.

Now I understand that there are different types of threat, and that you'd probably want to preserve builds that favor physical defense over magical defense, or any number of other stats. That makes sense to me, you want the players to have some choices to make on how best to deal with threats.

However, making it so that the entire category of "PvE" is somehow a completely different threat than other "players" seems silly. If the game lends itself to clear pve/pvp build distinctions, then I think the game developers have some work to do on changing how their mobs present a threat to the players.

In Aion this distinction is taken to the ridiculous, with a complete set of gear that is designated for PvP by even having "+PvP" defense/offense stats. That's so silly, why would such a thing exist in any realistic sense?

So do you think ESO can/will do this? Can we finally break down the pvp/pve wall and make a strong build a strong build?

As long as there is customization the distinction between build for pvp and pve will never be killed.

Similar thread already exists, don't need a new one: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1445164-equipment-gearing-and-pvp/
