what i mean, and what id like to see in later dlcs and TES games, are some more 'ordinary artifacts'
in the FOs ive played (new vegas more so since the special weaps in it have unique skins) the 'artifacts' Gained their legendary status from actually being used in the world
For example, a unique shotgun might have a screw for a site and some scratches and insignias carved into the butt to show that it's been around the block a few times
in the elder scrolls, most of the artifacts (as in the actual game description of an artifact- unique model, name) are legendary items created by God's or held by long dead heroes
I'm aware that there are unique items in skyrim, but usually they just have a unique name with an ordinary mesh
I think it would be cool to see some more worldly artifacts
for example, maybe when you're exploring a cave out in the wilderness and find a skeleton at the very end with a crossbow sitting by it and a note talking about how the old soldier went to the cave to die after being plagued by nightmares of the great war for so long
then make the crossbow have a dark wooden color like the Imperial bows, and maybe have something like the Imperial insignia edged into the back of the crossbow with tally marks etched into it to show how many thalmor the soldier killed in the great war and given an enchantment that does more damage to high elves and silences or something
I don't think there's anything wrong with the artifacts already in game, in fact I think a lot of them are really cool lore wise
but idk, I just think it would be cool to see some more 'mortal created' artifacts, as in items that gained their legendary status through actual use rather than simply being super shiny and awesome
what do you think about it? And what kinds would you like to see?
