New build, the "Bard-barian"

So I was tossing up ideas for a new character and then this idea hit me but I could use a little help on play style, race, skill choices and the like. The first 2 skills that instantly come to mind are Speech and Two-hand as he will be a Bard and a Barbarian, what better weapon of choice (aside from his words) then a battleaxe as "Axe" is another word for guitar so a battleaxe could be the bards lute/guitar that he makes music with...the beautiful sounds of steel splitting sinew ;)
(I would love to mod a steel battleaxe into a guitar/lute)

I stumbled across this description when researching the Bard class from OB:
Intelligent and personable, Bards prefer to accomplish tasks with their words first, and sword second. Bards are travelling storytellers, singers, dancers and all around performers. Bards are able to perform many tasks, including but not limited to weapons skills, picking locks and pockets, and magic. Extremely versatile, Bards typically carry a wide variety of weapons, and are capable of using all types of armor and shields. Bards are also extremely adept at delivering blows that render the highest level of damage to their opponents.

It sounds like I should also include the pickpocket and lockpicking skills as well as a splash of illusion magic, light armor naturally fits both bard and barbarian so that works well. As for race I was thinking of using Imperial for the voice of the emperor. Also there's a black book power that grants a magic drum or something like that so I will check that out as well.

Any ideas or suggestions here would be appreciated, especially since I've never played a bard class before.
