Most beautiful place in Skyrim? Gotta be the forgotten vale

Post » Sat Mar 02, 2013 5:52 am

OH MY GOD, as a ps3 player, i played and received dragonborn first, i thought it would be impossible for me to enjoy any other environment more than solstheim

But the vale is BY FAR my favourite place in the entire game, it's gorgeous! The frost giants, falmer culture, dragon battle, the HUUGE castle, topped off with the epic boss fight- and just all the snow elf related lore. I hadn't had this much fun exploring since i first bought skyrim!

If only i could build my house there:(

Anyway, quick question, to make this thread have something of a point to it:

What do you think is the most beautiful place in the entire game, including all DLC environments?

BTW i can't remember the name of the place right now, but i also LOVED that little cave you go into with all the moths, second favourite place for me, made a refreshing change from ashy wastelands :D . Albeit there wasn't much in there, but i would happily live the rest of my days in there too...

I'm inclined to agree. The Forgotten Vale is one of the main reasons I bought Dawnguard.

I like Shadowgreen Cave too. It's so full of life, even though it's hidden in the frozen mountains of Haafingar.

^ Yes, Shadowgreen Cave was a pleasant surprise for me, spent hundreds of hours in the game before I found out about it. I thought Coldcinder Cave on Solstheim was unexpectedly pretty, for such a small place. Forgotten Vale, Ancestor Glade and Dayspring Canyon are definitely up there in my favorites for beautiful areas.

I also thought the end chamber of the first Lost to the Ages Dwemer ruin, with the tonal locks, was really cool, despite the dead people everywhere.

Heh, I only found it after a couple hundred hours. I never felt like exploring that particular area. It's in the mountains north of Solitude, close to the shore.
