I think it's fair to say that gaming is now mainstream. We have Doritos and Mountain Dew advertising; respectable publications like Forbes, The New York Times, and The Guardian regularly have articles about the industry; people play Angry Birds on their iStuffs at work or while they're making dinner; feminists are complaining in full force about the hobby; etc.
As these things go, whenever something becomes popular, those who were previously ... socially unacceptable for appreciating that something tend to flee elsewhere.
So I wonder: where are the "geeks" and "nerds" fleeing to from gaming? Do "geeks" and "nerds" even exist anymore?
