Can I transfer a game installed on one PC to another via USB

Post » Sun Mar 10, 2013 6:09 pm

Ok so I'm trying to install a game on Windows 8 and every time I simply put the DISC in the tray and close it, I get the message:

"This file or program is not compatible with your operation system or system configuration."

It won't even let me install it at all, even using all the compatibility modes (Win 7, Vista, XP, etc).

The thing is, it's installed on another computer I have (Win 7). Can I just copy the entire folder onto a flash drive and then plug that flash drive into my new laptop with windows 8 and play it?

Care to elaborate as to why?

I used to do it on a flash drive I had WoW on, I plugged it into a computer that didn't have it installed and played it OFF the flash drive. Why can't I do it with another game?

Depends on the game, but most games write to the Windows registry and also store their saves or other data in multiple locations, so copying the install folder wouldn't be enough.
