Your first rig for PC gaming

Post » Tue Mar 12, 2013 1:45 am

Been a video game player all my life, but only got into PC gaming when I was a senior in HS. Not knowing the first thing about PCs, I installed Oblivion that a old friend gave to me on a PC that was some very low end office desktop. Later on the years, I would get myself a newer PC that I upgraded, while at the same time learning ALOT about PCs from the community (Not just here, everywhere!).

It has been 3-4 weeks since I bought my first, actual gaming rig and a new HDMI monitor. I can play all my games on high settings with 60FPS, 45 being the lowest but that is only when I am in high activity areas (I.E. Lions Arch in GW2, Solitude in Skyrim, etc.).

"Sheesh, Tiggles, get to the point!" I know, I know. I tend to blabble. What was your first gaming rig? What was the specs? What game was it for?

200 Mhz Pentium P2, 4 MB RAM and a CD Rom!!!! It even had some colors too!!!!

It was to play some text based RPGs.

I just replaced my gaming PC that I built in 2007, for Oblivion. I have put a couple of video cards in it since then, but the Mobo, CPU, RAM, Sound Card were the same as when built. Heck, the 320GB drive was from a machine I had before that I moved to it.

Can't really remember the specs back then, in the time where games came in huge boxes of floppies, and DRM meant typing in the Nth word of page X in the manual.
