Merchants in Dawnstar.....

So you know the Khajiit merchants in Dawnstar (the ones in the tents)? They're kind of gone....

Here's the story. I was at Dawnstar heading towards the DB sanctuary, but I stopped because a dragon attacked. It was dead within a few minutes and then I stopped by the caravan to see what they were selling. Nothing really caught my eye so I went along my way. After finishing business at the sanctuary, I went back and noticed they were missing, only to leave some black marks where their tents were. At first I thought the dragon burnt the place down, but then I realized I checked it after the dragon was dead. Any ideas on what happened and/or how to get them back?

PS: sorry for the bad picture, I had to use my phone since I'm playing on a PS3 :D.

They come and go, eventually they will return. Although, that said, Dawnstar seems to have dropped off the trade route for my khakit merchants, I haven't seen them there for a while.

Are you aware that the khajit merchants do wander from town to town?

Well now I'm aware. I never knew this since everytime I went there, they were there. I kind of wanted them there so I can use the chest glitch every once in a while to get some free stuff.

Yeah they come and go. I have had a few problems with the tents being there and the merchants not. That happened quite a lot to me. And also the merchants being there but the tents not.

The caravan that travels to Dawnstar also goes to Riften, so technically it has the longest route because of the route it has to take though as the bird flies, the longest route is the one that travels between Windhelm and Solitude but the road is more direct.

An easy way to track this caravan is to accept the Moon Amulet quest but never give the guy his moon amulet. So when you need to give it back, on your map will be the marker and there ya go. If you have already completed it, well...
