Game stuck in load screen

Post » Fri Mar 22, 2013 12:59 am

Pls help... someone also had this issue and seemed to solve it... I asked more on what he did or more so what the effects were and didn't get a response... I'm kinda gettin desperate here... this was his question...

As of the past few weeks or so, I've been noticing this "loadscreen lock". As in, whenever you load a saved game OR when your character moves to a new area within the game which requires it to load*** then there's a chance that the game never finishes loading. You can the continuous loop of the image moving back and fourth (like normal load) , and the music in the background keeps rolling.

And this is what he did.....

Well, I made a clean** install and it works. (Delete Skyrimcontent from Steamlist as well as the skyrim folder on your harddisk).

I don't get stuck at the loadingscreen no more and the game seems to run smoother and quicker aswell.

My question is.... If I do this... will I have to start all over?? also will I have to retreive all my mods and what about the DLCs?? Will it interfer with that??

Ty for you time...

Did you back up your data files folder before you deleted the content? If not, then you have to reinstall your mods.

Which is probably a good thing as the mods were to blame for your woes. Either that or your running Autosaves and it is getting corrupted. Plus, a number of mods will need to be updated for the new patch. Which is why I don't mod my game until the patching season is over.

If you used Nexus or the Skyrim Mod Manager (whatever it is called) then you can quickly reinstall your mods, BOSS sort them, then Bash them or Merge Patch them and your ready to go.

No problem, after re-installing the game, the DLC and mods, the saves will work with new install no problem. DLCs are downloaded automatically during the install, the mods you have to reinstall yourself. A mod manager helps here, and if they're all from workshop, i believe those too are automatically installed when you first start the game?

However my game too had a serious loading screen freeze issue, but after i cleaned my mod list up they've stopped completely.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6 is a utility that sorts your mods into a recommended order.

Run it after you've reinstalled and got all your mods in place.

Bottom line, you can't throw mods at the game and expect it to work. They have to be handled correctly. I will move this to mods so you can get some more help with this. Or, look at Youtube and look for Gopher's videos on installing and using mods in Skyrim, he will show you how to use these tools.

Basically:

Install Game, make sure it runs
Use Nexus Mod Manager to reisntall the mods (I think the archives are stored locally so no downloading needed)
Use BOSS to set the load order
Use Wrye Bash to make a Merged or Bashed Patch so all the changes made by the mods are done right.
Use FNVEdit if you think you have any mod conflicts.
