Follower or housewife? What questlines will he do?

If you want a follower, I think there only are Jenassa or Brelyna to choose between, but Brelyna only is available if you join the College of Winterhold. Jenassa is cool (but probably turns into a zombie once she married), Brelyna is adorably sweet (as a wife as well).

Also Brelyna is a Telvanni, so that's a plus.

Brelyna is my favorite. However, having her stuck behind the College of Winterhold has limited my ability to go with her in pure Assassin playthroughs.

You can also marry Avrusa Sarethi from Sarethi farm by Riften (the nirnroot place), and you can marry Dravynea the Stoneweaver from the Kynesgrove Mine as well...

Personally, I always go with Jenassa. From what I have seen, she is one of the best followers you can have stealth wise, and I am pretty sure that she will dual wield, which is another thing that most followers don't really seem to want to do.

Unless you are doing the vampire side of Dawnguard and want to turn your wife (Jenassa can't be turned), in which case go with Brelyna.

You shouldn't really have a companion if you're playing as a stealth character though
