Ok so basically, I tried several things but nothing worked. I have a new HD TV which I'd like to connect to an old model of Onkyo receiver (it's a TX-DS474 model to be exact, if that means anything to anyone). Now, I've found some suggestions on the net but none of them qre quite useful to me. Thing is, I don't have an HDMI cable, but I do have all sorts of cables with audio bananas and red/white RCA connectors, in all combinations, audio banana on one side and RCA on other, and both cables with bananas on both side and RCA cables on both sides, and I'd like to use them if I could, instead of HDMI cable. One site also mentions that when I port the HDMI cable that I need to set my TV to HDMI1, does this mean that I simply
'need' to have an HDMI cable and it will not work when set to TV? Because this means that it won't work with my laptop plugged into TV because that needs to be set to "PC" if I wanna see the PC stuff on my TV, and PC has no HDMI ports that I know of. Also, the ONKYO receiver doesn't have any audio banana ports, only black and white RCA ports, and couple of black and yellow ones. I'm also horribly unexperienced with this so yeah.

Any help is appreciated.

PS. I don't know how the audio banana is actually called, I'm talking about http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~ese250/week1/lab/smm.jpg.

Thanks in advance!
