Degree Holders, HowWhy would you convince someone to pursue

I'm graduating HS this year and plan to start college fall 2014 (due to family issues and the amount of traveling I'll be doing in the next 12 months)

I still haven't decided a major yet. I know I don't need to know right away, but it doesn't hurt to ask other's opinions.
I'd most likely be going to University of Alaska, Anchorage.

I've been looking at Civil Engineering, I've always been mechanically/logically minded (If that makes sense). I'm great at problem solving and from what research I've done, being an engineer sound like something I would like.

I was also looking into a few other ones. Accounting, Computer Engineering, and Education among them.
Its rather late and I'm tired, so I don't really want to go into more details on why I'm interested on those right now.

Getting a Master's degree in Civil engineering is probably a good idea. That'll open up good job opportunities in so many places.
