Computer Advise Needed

Post » Sat Apr 06, 2013 3:14 pm

Im a complete pc gamer noob. I started out on a console and never needed a gaming pc. I plan on buying a cheaper laptop and i need some expert advise on whether or not to get this. Id like to run it on medium settings, and maybe a few other games like skyrim and diablo on medium. Since i apparently cant post links, ill give the specs.

2.4 GHz Intel Core i7-3630QM ultra-low voltage, quad-core processor

500GB hard drive

6 GB DDR3 RAM

AMD Radeon? HD 7730M 2GB Graphics

Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Thanks in advance!

Given we don't know the requirements for the game, no one could say for sure how well those specs will do, however, I think it will beable to play TESO, but how well will have to be seen.

If you don't NEED a laptop, I suggest investing that money on a desktop, as you can get more power for your cash.

That will easily play Skyrim on Med settings, and Diablo.

Since it is a laptop you're going to be really confined to mid grade parts unless you want to spend a lot more to get a higher end machine.

But for Med Settings that will play the game without hesitation.

As a future Upgrade, look at more RAM. Make sure the Motherboard will support up to 12gb min.

how much are you trying to spend? and are you only interested in a laptop?

I'd highly recommend going desktop, I purchased an Alienware M17x Laptop gaming pc.... it was by far the biggest mistake I have ever made with money. I thought the convenience of a portable machine would be awesome, but 90% of the time it was on a desk anyhow, I had to purchase a cooling pad, and the over all quality of the system was pretty bad.

It should be able to do those things, but you might really want a 3.2 ghz or atleast a 2,7 ghz...cuz well 2.4 tends to be the minimum of most games.

oh! and windows 8 is horrible! wait for windows 9 or get windows 7 >.>

lol that was going to be my next bit of advice, Microsoft seems to be on a pattern here.... Win 98 - pretty decent, 2000 - bad, XP - good, Vista - bad, 7 - good, 8 - bad.

Thanks for the advise. Id like a laptop simply because of the mobility ( travel a lot) but ill definately consider a desktop. I dont want to build my own, so if you have a suggestion for a desktop under 750, not including the moniter, id gladly take suggestions.
