The potency of a Dragon's Soul.

In the case of a non-dragonborn and with a specially made soul gem and spell. How potent would a dragon's soul be compared to a black soul for a enchating?

...you mean as a way of explaining capturing dragon souls?
Would it matter?

I don't think it would be possible to do that to a dragon . . .

I think he means the Potency of it used for Enchanting :o
say you somehow Soul Trap a Dragon's soul into a Soul Gem, I would imagine Enchanting something with that soul would be very over powered :o

Ah so purely hypothetical.
By in game standards, probably about as potent as a Grand Soul.

If you manage to somehow soul trap a dragon's soul into a soul gem then you may have a problem because the only thing that should really be able to destroy the dragon's soul should either be another dragon or the dragonborn.

Meh, I wasn't justifying it to be a feature in the game, Just a "What If" thing.

Even as a what if thing it would probably be hard for any mage (lore wise) to take down a dragon of any type and even then dragons can't be killed without another dragon or dragonborn lore wise well technically the dragon would still be dead but at the same time it really isn't dead.

What about Dhurnevir (sp)?

I mean lore wise, like for exqmple the amulet of kings held the souls of the dragonborn emperors, and with them they were able to seal the realm of oblivion. That would be impossible with a black soul. What would be the capabilities of a dragon souls?

Technically he is not completely dead, because his soul is in the soul cairn due to a bargain with the ideal masters you really can't use him as an example. CAR105 3

Those dragonborn emperors were generally not born with the soul of a dragon. Lore wise those who were born with the soul of a dragon would have had that dragon's soul reclaimed by Akatosh, the Septim dynasty was referred to as dragonborn emperors because of Mother effin Hjalti Early-Beard Ysmir Tiber Talos Stormcrown Septim, yes he has a long ass name.

Still, his existence is sort of the elephant in the room on the matter.

It really does not count though as he was not soul trapped in a soul gem.

Yeah he is physically soul trapped in the soul cairn but in very unique circumstances.

Yeah, unique circumstances, his own stupidity if you want to get technical. But the fact remains that lore wise a Dragon really can't be killed unless it is by another dragon or the Dovahkiin, Durnehviir is a special case due to his bargain with the ideal masters so you really can't use him as an example.
