Faction Betrayal?

Post » Mon Apr 15, 2013 4:19 pm

Will there be an option for your character to switch sides, perhaps after performing a series of tasks that solidify your allegiance to another faction (for example, a Redguard joining the Ebonheart Pact)? Few games have this feature and it always provides wonderful opportunities for roleplayers, as well as giving players the flexibility to play the character they want on the side they want.

Granted, whatever the system may be, it shouldn't be something to be taken lightly, requiring a fair bit of time and dedication on the player's part to prevent superfluous bouncing to whatever faction happens to be 'winning'.

Right now there is no way to do this that we know of.

I would, personally LOVE to have this option, as well as the option to be neutral.

I agree it should be a hard thing to do to switch factions but it should be possible.

nope. Have to find the Q&A where it was said but I believe actual words were "absolutely not" which was further explained "alliances native provinces helps to foster realm pride amongst players"

Which we all should know by now is the opposite of true.

Being forced/drafted/conscripted into a conflict does not breed pride it breeds resentment. Freely choosing your cause is what breeds pride so having faction tied to race in a TES game does not breed pride if a person has a favorite race but dislikes that faction.

I would certainly hope not. That would cause so much trouble that is unneeded.

I'm fine with locked factions, so long as I can kill any NPC I want. O_O

But seeing as It's an MMO, I'm having my doubt about that...

Which is exactly why they said players and not characters. You get the opportunity to choose your faction at character select.

ps Nothing good can come of this thread.

You will most likely not be able to kill every single NPC. Wouldnt want to go into a empty city with only essential NPC's, ruins the feel.

I could see some of that happening, maybe a Nord joining the Daggerfall Covenant. But I don't see that Nord joining the Aldmeri Dominion. I'm guessing they will just leave the whole thing out.

Players or characters it makes no difference, your psychology controls you not the other way around. And your faction determines your choice of race, which I'm fine with, but what reason should I not have an opportunity to defect or be neutral?

Unfortunately, yes, I imagine they will unless it is for a major expansion which weakens all the alliances some time down the line.

MMO, nothing. Considering it is an Elder Scrolls game, you should know that isn't even in the cards.

It's odd.. I've seen him say that in a large variety of threads. They really had very little in common.. well, except that he posted in all of them, of course.

Oh wait!
