This a thread for games that kind of blew your mind. Mabye you had low expectations or just didn't like the setting, but fell in love with the game.

For me it was L.A. Noire. I love the setting and everything, but I hate Rockstar and see them as wannabes and hasbeens. I got Noire in a trade along with a crapton of other games, and I decided to pop it in. All I can say is wow.

Another is Mass Effect. I got all three games in that same trade, and I had high expectations, but ME1just isn't doing it for me.

What about you guys?

Metro 2033... I never really liked shooters this happens to be an exception.... Only thing that truly terrified me were the heights.

Dragon Age 2 surprised me in that it was a huge disappointment. Same with Fable 3.

A game that actually surprised me by being good? That's a tough one, as I usually don't buy/play games that don't already seem to appeal to me in the first place. Kingdoms of Amalur was better than I thought it would be, and I already thought it was going to be pretty great.

That was is on my shelf, again from that mass trade. I can't wait to try it.

Kerbal Space Program. It didn't look appealing from the screenshots, but I got the demo and fell in love with it. I bought the game within the hour.

Definitely Dark Souls and Witcher 2. Both are brilliant.
