» Thu Apr 25, 2013 3:31 pm Recently, as we all know, Sam Fisher's true voice has been inexplicably recast, as well as David Hayters voicing of Snake... an act I have no sympathy for in the slightest out of any game company... replacing the original is always destined to **** off the oldest fans, but too many company's have begun to do this, to market their games for the masses by changing the tone of the franchise, getting rid of what worked. Characters we have come to love are replaced without a second thought, the company's trying to turn them into mere masks that can be swapped on to different actors, rather then the timeless creations they should be. I come to you now with the latest instance of this occurrence, and a request. It has been announced that the Thief franchise, perhaps the original grandaddy of stealth and my favorite series, will be getting rid of the original voice of Garrett, the master thief and protagonist of the franchise, and replacing him... again, like Splinter Cell over ridiculous issues involving mocap... many of us have begun to protest this stupid decision. Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite was comprised of three different actresses... and these idiots cant have two actors, one for mocap and voice? I will leave you here a comparison between the true voice of Garrett, and the new one to see our plight for yourself.

Now, there is a petition for the reinstatement of Garrett's masterful voice actor, Stephen Russell, and I would appreciate it if you were to sign it. I know many of you might be thinking petitions never accomplish anything, but looking back on Hitman Absolution, which suffered the same problem as Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid and now Thief, I never expected them to bring back Agent 47's original voice actor after they had gotten rid of him... but after much protesting, they actually brought him back on board. I am appealing to you Dishonored fans, stealth fans, to help honor one of the original greats that helped lead the market towards the expansion of the stealth genre... Looking Glass Studios created a timeless masterpiece, and I would like it to be honored in the latest Thief... and honoring Garrett is honoring the world they created. Eidos Montreal could have simply made it about a new character, a new story... but they chose Garrett, and doing so they need the one man who imbued so much character and depth into him, just as Michael Ironside accomplished with Sam Fisher. I think it would be best if we all stuck together, or unified on this issue.. I think there is a chance we can get this guy back in the role he belongs in. And hell, maybe they can get him to play the next protagonist of Dishonored if that fails.
