What would you use a 3D printer for?

What would you make yourself with a 3D printer?

For me, I would make a lot of custom accessories.

I would make my own video game controllers, headsets, sunglasses, external cases for various things. There would be no need for me to buy a phone case from the store when I can just print me one. Broken Xbox controller?

I would also definitely print my own custom board game pieces!!! Dungeons n Dragons and Risk could be more awesome.

Are you allowed to do that where you are at? Maybe in the US? I know in Canada you need a license to possess and manufacture those kinds of things.

Not sure what I'd use a 3D for---maybe scan a toy Star Destroyer and make my own Imperial fleet.

 I'm not sure you quite grasp the capabilities/limitations of current (rather than the future potential of) 3d printers, especially the ones which a home user can actually afford. They're definitely cool, though, and there is a ton of stuff you can do with them even now, so your enthusiasm is still justified .

Personally, I'm not entirely clear what I would use one for, but I do know I want one . To some degree it's one of those things which I'd only really discover my uses for after messing with it a bit and stuff, though there little things that come to mind.

Well, for example, I would print the external casing for the headset, or the game controller and then put the pieces together myself. The electrical components on the inside I would get/make elsewhere or print em if there is a machine available for that.

I'm so excited for this 3D printing technology. It's so hype. I'm especially excited about its biological applications. But, I have no idea whats going on. I just know its possible.

Imagine printing off parts to use for a new machine instead of buying a new printer. lol

Me and my buddies play Risk and there is always misunderstandings between Green, Blue, and Grey pieces. They can look similar with a quick glance if the lighting is not great or if someone is blocking the lighting the right way. So since then I was trying to look for some different pieces and figured why not get different looking pieces instead of just the standard looking ones.

I'm not sure how this is going to work. Printing off someones work without their permission even if your not using it to sell.

I'm excited to see how this tech will change the economy.

Just hope there are schematics out there for one? There probably will be one. As far as cutting n things.. I dunno. Power source, etc, all that. I never really looked in to it. What you want stop at your imagination, I guess

Make your own toys is the way to go. I have to start keeping track of things I think of so I can print em out.

I've used Solid Works, that's what I would use to design whatever I wanted printed.

Will it print a 3D image of my butt, or do these things have a safeguard for such office pranks?
