Statement of Purpose
Throughout my life, my goals have always been to help others and to make a difference. It was for this reason I applied to the Law Program at X University in 2010, and it is for this reason I will graduate in 2015. By helping others, I find joy and meaning, and it drives me to thrive in my studies and future career.
After having studied international law and comparative law this spring, my interest for these topics has broadened. In an increasingly globalized world, I have come to realize the importance of international law. Moreover, I have come to understand the importance, and interesting aspect, of comparing different legal systems in order to evaluate one’s national laws. With Sweden, being a civil law country, and America, being a common law country, I believe that the course will bring a unique, enlightening perspective on the law. This interest has driven me to apply to the Z Summer Program. In addition, the aspect of meeting and studying with people from other countries and cultures sounds exciting. By applying to the Z Summer Program, I hope to both make new friends and build new contacts for the future.
My career goal is to work at a law firm within the field of business law and which deals with international clients. My ambition is to work in an environment where I can contribute by helping others and where I can grow as a lawyer. In order to achieve this, I plan to apply for exchange studies and to first work as a law clerk after graduation to gain practical experience.
For the summer of 2013, Z Summer School will be my first priority. The benefit of meeting students from other countries and of discussing and learning more about international law is what I am looking forward to the most.
By attending the Z Summer Program, I hope to gain a wider perspective on the law, which can contribute to my future career, especially when dealing with international clients and international disputes. I also believe that attending the Z Summer Program will help prepare me for future exchange studies, as they too are closely connected to international topics. With more comprehensive courses in international law, especially International Business Law, I am looking forward to be able to gain more knowledge which I can apply in my future career.
Yours faithfully,
