Scorchers Threat DLC & Changes to RAGE

Post » Tue May 07, 2013 12:42 am

I am a faithful id game owner and a definite fan of Rage.

The second the Scorchers DLC message window opened on Steam I already had my credit card out before the screen finished....lol

So the Scorchers Threat:

After having finished the DLC and perusing my new apartment with the trophy room (and the bimbo hot chick....wooot), I also immediately noticed a subtle change in the game.

The first scenario run I did was the Northern Sewers.

It appears (to me anyhoo) that there has been an increase in the numbers of mutants swarming you, as well as an upward nudge of their AI.

I also next ran the Plateau & Kvasir's Sewers and it became OBVIOUS they did something to the game.

I would suspect all the whining over Nightmare mode being No-So-Nightmare mode must have prompted them to juggle the numbers (in the program).

Also for those that haven't found out by now, the rocket launcher has been removed from Kvasir's Sewer after the addition of the Scorchers.

With THAT being said - they obviously can make updated changes to the current game which means there may well be other modifications throughout.

Good luck guys and happy hunting.

I will be continuing today through the remainder of the game to see if I can detect any other modifications to the NPCs and whatnots.

I would suggest you other die-hard RAGE fans do the same.

Cheers all

I'll be playing the game through again. Will post up any undocumented changes should I find something.

Yup,so far I'm also getting the impression iD changed bits and pieces here and there.I loved Rage from the get-go,but I'm enjoying it EVEN MORE this time around.Ultra Nightmare was exactly what was needed. I hope to God they make Rage 2 for Next-Gen consoles, that'll blow our minds.

The only bug that caught me out on my first playthrough was the one that has now been squashed, Over a year later but will make the second playthrough worry free.

I apologize up front for the delay in follow-up, been working like a dawg....lol

Just finished RAGE with the Scorchers DLC loaded in.

OMFG.

Despite a lot of the whining and complaining in here (of which there has been a lot) it appears the developers have been reading our stuff here.

You all should take some comfort in that.

At the end of the reg game (Capital Prime) it dumps you back into the game.

MONDO FREAKING KUDOS TO id/gamesas for at least that one.

Don't believe me?

Though despite the ending which obviously they cannot change at this point as it is encoded into the program, dumping you back into the game is a stroke of genius which I believe was a heated topic here for some time.

There have been changes to the RAGE environment through the DLC.

Think about that for a moment.

They can add, remove, change, alter, or whatever, almost anything in the game via DLC coding mods.

It is obvious through the increase in mutant spawns through the sewers as well as MBTV and other places.

I suspect with LITTLE effort, they can add DLC at will now.

Ya hear me up there at Beth?

Cheers mates.....gonna go see what I can see throughout the map here at the end.

DANG GOOD STUFF.

True. Rage 2 on the next consoles would be visually stuning.

EDIT: EvilDweeb, it's possible for ID to change the ending.

They don't have to completely rewrite it; in fact, everything up to the final CGI cutscene is ok and serviceable, it's acceptable and it fits as a satisfactory final battle to the game.

The final CGI cutscene is in itself the great disapointment, it merely shows us a communications satelite transmiting the Emergence Code to all Arks still buried, causing them to resurface, and that's all there is to it, which is a shame.

The final custcene could've shown us the leaders of the resistance madly scrambling through their resources, trying to rescue as many Ark survivors as they can, sending people to all places of the wasteland and the world in order to rally the survivors and secure them before the Authority manages to do the same; and just the same, the ending could've shown us General Martin Cross for the first time, commanding his forces and deploying them towards the remote corners of the globe in order to seize the resurfaced Arks before the rebels could get to them.
