It's 2415 the world is controlled by one power and it's three MASSIVE (about 2x the size of Florida) flying battleships, which in 2390 were used to decimate all non surrending forces and to annihilate Australia completely, it's now just a chain of islands with the largest reef to ever habit the world in the remains. In the time since 2380- present a multitude of events have unfolded. A second moon has appeared around earth, with mineral and energy sources abundant. As well as world wide war. Until 2090 when the federation (as the call themselves) and their ships (the Armageddon, the Colossus, and the Undearing faith) in a show of power took control. They now rule with an iron fisted military of the three kings(ships), ground troops, tanks, jets, helicopters, mechs, and special forces who airdrop from high atmosphere.

The year is 2415 and two people, Connor (19) and Amelia(Amy) 18 are presiding over group 417, one of the many orphan groups living in and outside the megacity west, on the east coast of what was the united states (with the west coast becoming vast ashlands) Amy's brother, Michael (22) has been missing for seven months. The group lives in a old mansion until they are inexplicably attacked by an armored and unnamed enemy, who decimates most of the group (ages 5-19) and destroys the mansion. Connor, Amy and a few others escape into Megacity west, where they proceed to try and find out who attacked them, and why.

The group proceed into the federation intelligence tower, where one of the group members, Rex, hacks the systems using a key code token from a federation officer who was on site (before being killed by the group). In the files they find the name of the program "Dark Omega" whose goal is to create super soilders for an unknown war. The group was targeted because they wouldn't be missed and no investigation by anyone would ever happen. The hack turns on a hidden security program and the Armageddon heads towards megacity west, with the assassin/dark omega on board, his mission now priority one, kill the remainder of group 417, no restraints.

it's 2987 and a large amount of planets of been found, terraformed, and colonized (27 to be exact). They were found originally by astronauts, but now the job is considered too high risk for any nation or nations to spend Trillions on. This is where the main characters of the novel come in. The Scouts, explorers who find and mark planets which can be terraformed, precisely the ones who call themselves the Axeblade's (after the ancient Vikings of earth) the main members comprising of Col. J. Edgar Hart, leader and founder of the Axeblade corp. Corp. X. Riley timmerson, mining expert. Cpt. J. Ullysess Jameson. Sgt. I. Caleb Timothy. And the main Protagonist Sgt. S. Caleb Mercanti.

They go to a newly discovered planet, MW-OUT-QIV-y132-x257 which is about 7x the size of earth with massive landmasses, the planet is codenamed Ragnarok by the Axeblades. On the surface of the planet by a cliff side they find the Giants, giant organisms which appear solid, until one strolls by where it is revealed to be made up of millions of fungi. For an unknown reason the creature attacks, taking Col. Hart and driving the rest of the Axeblades into a cave, where their long journey begins.

The nightingale begins with Travis Bennett. Travis is at a restaraunt eating with Asir Amadan, he is the president of a middle eastern country. They're eating a 600$ meal, discussing the murder of his brother by the hands of the Shakir al shabad, a "revolutionary" group who wants to overthrow the seat of government houses (like Amadan's) which have stood for over 700 years. Asir is talking with Travis about his former employer (whom he killed after he betrayed him, causing a revolution known as "Deshi Basara Nightingale" (rise up nightingale) which is still going on)and his experience as a mercenary/rebel leader. At the end of the meal, Asir thanks travis for his time and says his Experience will be "most gratefully rewarded". Throughout the entire discussion, Travis's heart is racing, after all last time he worked for a man in power that man killed 100000+ civilians and left him for dead. In the end Travis agrees and Asir calls a number on his cellphone, after his short talk, he tells him " your private jet arrives in two hours, and 1,000,0000$ has been added to your bank account, this meal is on me of course, you are my guest". Travis thanks him, leaves and hops onto a motorcycle and heads for the airporton the plane he falls asleep and flashbacks occur about his time working for the African leader turned warlord, this is the majority of the book, with the events once he landed being told in the next book.
