ESO Pre Order + Monthly Subscription

Post » Sun May 12, 2013 11:22 pm

Okay i'm sorry for making another post on this but i cant get my head around this.

You can currently Pre order ESO yet people are still arguing whether it will be Monthly Subscription or Not. If you pre order it surely you have already bought the game so why do you have to pay monthly?

I am not excited about the idea of monthly subscription.

I really think it is a one time payment myself.

Pre orders would be news to me. I have only seen such things from sites like amazon but you cannot trust those, occasionally on games they put out a release date on the product even though a release date has never been announced.

I have vowed that i wont apply to a monthly subscription to a game. Pay for the game once and play it for how long you want.

Most monthly subscription still have a box price which comes with a free month. So even if you pay for the box does not mean you will not still have to pay for access to the servers.

Also unofficial pre-orders are just that, unofficial! The game could just as easily be F2P (Please I beg you no!) these companies are just hedging their bets they do not know anything official.

I'm the total opposite if it isn't p2p I'm gone. Hell if you only even play 1 hour a day it's one of the cheapest form of entertainment you can buy. Going to the movies with your wife/GF/buddies once cost more than the probable $15 a month this game will be

I can think of two reasons:

1) They have not decided yet.

2) They do not want to alienate half the player base as this is an issue that utterly divides the player base. Let them get utterly hooked and then shatter their dreams by saying it is the payment system they do not want and hopefully they are so caught up in the hype they buy it anyway.

Edit: Just to say that I am not 'gone' one way or the other just if it is B2P they are going to have to work damn hard to make microtransactions not intrusive to get me on board.

Can I just point out we have already had a large opinion poll on whether the game should be FtP, BtP or PtP.

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1456496-pay-as-you-go-or-free-to-play-thread-2/

And PtP (a subscription model) won by a considerable margin.

But it is also a forum poll and therefore inherently biased, it attracts those who are more into gaming and therefore likely to pay more for it. I think it is going to be a much closer split between B2P and P2P in reality.
