Faster than light travel (Warp Speed)

This doesn't reference the game FTL.

For the sake of brevity, this is what caught my eye:

Not sure if Star Trek mentioned this or it was mentioned down the road, but this more or less reminds me of Futurama. It's the episode where the Professor's creates a clone of himself, and then subsequently sent to the deathball because he's reached "that time" of age, think 160. While the Professor is knocked out, the clone receives a knock to the head in a prior scene and wakes up, talking about how the engines work by moving the area around the outside of the ship while Planet Express basically stays where it is in space.

Yep, this has been the generally accepted "theory" (or should I say "fantasy pseudo-hypothesis") behind warp travel for quite some time AFAIK.
