With Rift going f2p, it looks like continuing this thread in part 2 is appropriate.http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1458998-beginning-of-the-end-monthly-subscription-model/What say you now, Simon?

It's funny how most of us actually want to sub.

We know it will be better and we are willing to pay for it.

Let's hope they hear us :)

And thou shall be, that pricing threads were all holy and mighty, and thou shalt hold it every 7 days, for the Lord is Holy.

Us being the tiny amount of players that visit the forum? Why is it so hard for you guys to realize all of the evidence points to players in general NOT wanting a sub.

Because most of the polls and surveys I've seen have indicated that either subs or one-time-payment is preferred? Maybe that has something to do with it.

There's something i don't get, so please don't get mad at me for asking this.

Why can't it just be pay once and play for free - like the every other TES game? If it's because of the expence of the servers, then how come games like CoD can keep all the servers from their old titles up?

Go ahead and ask. :swear:

It can. :)

The problem is, this type of set up has many "features" that a lot of players don't like. Also, truth be told, historically the F2P and B2P have all been pretty crappy games, if they are MMOs.

While servers are a bit of it, the continued maintenance of the game plays a large part as well, which (To my knowledge) CoD servers do not require a lot of. Also, CoD makes small DLC to keep funding servers, I'm not sure if an reputable MMORPG could get away with such a tactic.

I'm not against buy-once style, but only if it is viable without a cash-shop or any other sort of silly side-tactic of milking money. Seeing as this is not likely, I'm much more hopeful that it uses a subscription payment.

Because such a tiny part (often the most "hardcoe") ever visit a forum. All of these polls are inherently biased because its only getting the opinion of a specific demographic.

Well, you mean outside of the dlc and such? On top of the fact the servers are actually getting very little use in this system. Very little is kept server side. On top of which you have additional features like gm support.

Well considering cash shops tend to make more money the subscriptions at least in the short term but to play is entirely feasible.

So feasable that Gw2 is down 372% from last quarter.
