Nintendo is trying to get ad revenue from Let's Players and other videos featuring their products.

What do you think? Is this another hoax by them, like the Wii-U?

Wait, what? The Wii-U wasn't a hoax? Oh, oh my god. :lmao:

Do you think Nintendo is in the right, here?

Just like music, I have purchased some games off of Let's Play videos. When are corporations going to learn, fan made videos are some of the best free marketing available. Now, they want to make money off of the efforts of others who are doing them a service.

Forgive me for my lack of YouTube community knowledge, but how does a LP user make revenue off a LP?

Edit: Oh I nevermind. Haha I see. Didn't know that was actually going on.

Just like any webpage, you get enough views, some one will pay you to put an add on your Youtube channel, or even before the video starts.

But, I think that could only be arranged with original material, not using someone else's game to make a video.

It depends on how many views you have on a regular basis. I'm not sure on the specifics, but YouTube will, at some point, make you a 'partner', where you start making a fraction of the ad revenue.

I never knew that...now that I know this, I bet this is just some subtle attempt by Nintendo to make money knowing it hasn't been doing good at all for the last few years. I love Nintendo, I grew up with it, it is just like seeing an old friend on his deathbed IMHO.
