Werewolf: Marooned (Day 1)

Day 1

Day 1 in the desert. Least, I think it’s the first day. Can’t recall anything beyond a week or two ago. And judging by the crew surrounding me, it’s the same with all of them. We bloody well all woke up just now, groggy as heck, and there’s nothing around us, far as the eye can see... Except those few tracks in the sand going over the dune to the east. Stranger still, there’s bedrolls for everyone and enough food for a good week. Water might be an issue, though... I only see 3 days worth in here.

Sam Stewart (Mr.E) shut his journal and glanced at the people assembled around him. Strange bedfellows, to say the least. Aime (Gorbad) and Jack (Nightingale) had already started arguing over who’d corner Persephone, who didn’t seem to mind the attention in the least. Morgan (Dovahkiin) was fiddling with his phone, still unsuccessful in getting a signal, as Yamazaki (Morrowind) glanced constantly over his shoulder. Rex (Gamgee) stood appraising the people around him, and nodded approvingly at Viktor (Shifty) and William (Lady Mara) as they set up the bedrolls and cooking stands. Steve (Northwind) and Aaron (hircine) looked with increasing desperation at the liquid supplies, neither finding the booze or coffee they sought, while Eunae (Webster) dutifully removed food to cook for the assembled people. Nobody paid any mind to George (dmel), who was hellbent on convincing people that he had nothing to do with their current predicament.

Once their initial camp was set up, the curiosity of the group could no longer be contained, and they directed their attention to the tracks. Leo (Drop Dead) believed there were 3 sets of footprints, though Anazar (Erginho) argued that several of them overlapped and traveled in both directions. Enough wind had blown over them to obscure any details about the tracks other than their mere presence, so the argument remained academic. What they discovered on the other side of the dune was far from academic, however.

Lying on his back, directly beside the tracks, was a man in flowing white robes and a turban. He was dead, his neck reddened and his head loose. His neck had been snapped. His robes lay partway open, dusted in front with sand, and from within the robes a small box poked out, its surface heavily blacked-out with a permanent marker. They could make out the following:

THERIA███████████

Alpha Test#███

███████████████████████████

███████████me caution.

Effects unknown.

For la█████████████

Cont██████████████re info.

Johnny (Bad Voodoo) wasted no time in yanking opening the box. Inside was space for 5 syringes, but only three were present. Inside each, a small trickle of liquid remained, maroon in color. “What does it mean?” asked Kenna (Kronus). Sam was quick to answer: “It means, whoever made the other footprints has probably taken this drug as well as some spares... And whatever that liquid is, I doubt the rest of us will like it.

“Look, we’ve got limited water and we need to find our way out of this desert and back to civilization. I doubt the druggies are going to make it easy on us. We’ve already set up camp here tonight. First thing tomorrow, we’ll set off. You’ll have to decide which way we go.”

And so, a series of arguments rang out for the remainder of the day.

“We should go east” asserted Marilyn (Xetirox). “The robed man was walking that way. He looks as if he’s no stranger to deserts, I would doubt he chose randomly.”

“East? You’re daft. Look what happened to him - he was probably trying to get away from whatever was following him - from the West!” argued Lawrence (Frank).

Nathan (Xrayman) interjected: “Just based on landmass probability, this desert is more likely in the Northern hemisphere. Going north should take us to cooler, more fertile lands.”

Rufio (Cecil) could no longer contain himself. “Buncha wrongheaded advlts. We should go south.” The group contemplated him, so he added, “It’s where the wind is coming from most often.”

No decision was reached that night. After a refreshing but plain bowl of noodle soup, the group eventually settled in to sleep, resolving to figure out a direction of travel the next day.

You may head NORTH, EAST, WEST, or SOUTH.

I agree with Nathan he seems to be knowledgeable, I say we head for fertile lands let's move NORTH.

Rex Power Colt

This is a travesty, but I'll do my duty since I am just a Mark IV CyberCommando. What we could really use is some real heroic direction, like something a police officer would do. I also say we go north for the time being.

Persephone:

(thinking in her head) I hate chicken noodle soup. I want a cheeseburger dammit. And who are these people, anyway? A few hot guys, alright, but who is that [censored] with the blue bandana? She looks like she could get in the way. Fumbles around in her purse looking for gum, touching a religious icon in the process. Well, I shouldn't call her a [censored]. Forgive me, Lord. So anyways, what's going on again? Puts a piece of gum in her mouth, folds the wrapper and puts it back in her purse. That short Asian girl better not ask me for any lady products. 20 bucks says she does. And that cop? I bet she starts on that 'holier-than-thou' crap, but she makes the most sense.I really don't have time for this. Stares off towards the south. Is there a pole around here? I need to practice my half flag splits for next Saturday's Stripper of the Month contest... Maybe there's a vending machine with a Dr. Pepper and a payphone over there. At least maybe some shade and a drink of water.

"Ummm... can we go that way?"

*points South*

Morgan

(Thinking)If I could get a damn signal, I could be out of here and in a motel by now. (Talking)There isn't any relevant evidence for any sort of direction, and since I can't seem to get a signal around here, I really could care less. Either way we'll probably find civilization eventually. Lets head North for now until something changes.

*Morgan then turns directly to his phone and tries to find any sort of network or Bluetooth signal for other phones*

Viktor

We should go north. If we go north we should be able to find a fresh source of water, or perhaps a borderline desert city. Which in turn has water.
