Should I advertise my guild name before release?

Post » Sun May 19, 2013 2:26 pm

I'm one of many Elder-scrolls fans out there making a guild website. I'm afraid that if I host the guild name, a random user could steal the name before our guild gets to create it in-game, I've done a tiny bit of research and found there is no "Guild reservations" yet... So do I keep the guild name anonymous, or do I keep it open, advertise the guild and hope for the best?

Adversiting is not allowed in here anyways.

Just keep it until we move to offical TESO forums, there, they probably will make guilds forum

I don't think he is planning on advertising it here, he is just asking should he risk making this website for his guild, go to places where it is allowed and advertise it, knowing full well that once the game is released it could easily be stolen by a person who happens to get online first.

It is a tricky situation to be honest, and there is no really good answer. We are so far away still in terms of development that I wouldn't worry about it at this point, if it is that common of a name for a guild then it will probably get taken anyways. I am sure you at some point want to get a guild going before the game is even released its tough though because you probably will never be able to reserve the name.

I doubt someone would want to steal your guild name. It's more likely that you'd inadvertently take an established guild name on accident

Unless you have an army of hated enemies I don't think someone is sitting there scanning the internet for guild names to steal, or would even just take yours. If you're worried about it then don't advertise.

Post-launch guilds never work.. 3 month from launch and slowly those who're sticking with the game start to show up. Gotta love Megaserver thats why, we aint no more seperated by hundred of servers, so easy to find guild, guild members etc. I actually told this to Zenimax, its exactly that 3 month-AFTER-crowd who you want to please, loyalist if you want to call them.

Ye have faith in people, call me a pessimist, I think people are that ridiculous that they would steal a guild name.

To answer all your questions, I would not advertise here, i'm just afraid of the risks. I have no faith in people, and I have a group of friends with recruitment already in motion. I just don't want the website name and forums to go to waste.
