MinecraftMojang on next-gen?

Post » Mon May 20, 2013 2:25 am

I got to thinking, Mojang are filthy stinking rich thanks to Minecraft (both computer and XBOX) and I wouldn't be surprised if they want a slice of next-generation action. But what would they do? They can't release Minecraft again, that'd be actually worse than COD. At least COD renames, puts different maps and campaigns in there.

So what would Mojang do? Would they give us the ability to 'mod'? And by that, I mean more of a creation kit type thing that fits with Microsoft's terms of usage.

Could they buy/ claim rights to Tekkit, and sell that on next-gen?

Or will they simply fade into memory as Minecraft is left on the past generation, as new Indie games take the spotlight?

Minecraft will keep trucking along healthily like many other popular games that last for years upon years. PC users don't have to worry about things like generational transitions. What happens on the Xbox is probably all up to what initiatives Microsoft are willing to take.

Yeah no such thing as generations on PC, even Morrowind will still sell on Steam and have a community modding it when it is 2 generations behind console wise.

It'll be interesting to see what Mojang does next, aside from funding some other games. I imagine they'll continue working on Minecraft as long as people keep buying it.

I'd guess that they'd stop updating for the 360, and then pull it up to PC standard for the next XBOX, with content patches and such.

PC users have horses and castles. :( I have to ride pigs and build my own castles...
