Yea, I personally hope this stays with NASA and its space travelers. Earth bound humans are already lazy enough as it is right now. Don't need to be giving them a means to make them even lazier. (Before people play devil's advocate, I know this tech could be used to help the disabled. I'm talking your average joe who's healty, but too dang lazy to even scratch his own butt.)

Pointless idea. Why would you print out food when you know...you could just eat the thing before grounding it down to print out later...

Why not just flatten the food and store it rather than;

Ground it down, put it in a container inside an even bigger container, install a machine and the printer onto the ship and secure it. Costing a lot more than just flattening the food would cost. Besides I'd have figured they'd want to be as light as possible when going into space, why add an unnecessary machine to the equation :shrug:

Probably doubles as the toilet...

Folding over freeze dried foods just breaks them into smaller pieces. RIP ramen noodles.

It's not actually making food out of nothing, so I don't think it's a big deal, and the time saved from preparing would probably be spent stuffing around putting ingredients into the thing.
