Playing with friends?

Post » Thu May 23, 2013 12:14 pm

Can someone elaborate on this comment by Matt Firor? My biggest fear is that I won't be able to play with my friends because of the races we want to play. Is this the case?

If so, why? You made a super server so we can play with our friends then you restrict who we can play with by our race since each race belongs to an alliance.

My suggestion is to allow us the ability to pledge to a specific alliance, not choose for us based on the race we choose.

Please tell me I have misunderstood & this is not the case.

Thank you,

SeeingBlue

You'll probably be restricted from playing with your friends if you guys all play on seperate factions. Sorry, that's just how warfare goes.

edit: I mean FACTIONS, not races. Your Nord buddies will never be your friends if you're an Orc. Its just not meant to be. But if you're an Argonian, its sunshine and huggles for your Nord buddies and you.

This is stupid. It's not "just how warfare goes", it's how we accept the game to be developed. Personally it's unacceptable & a possible deal breaker for me. It won't hurt a thing to allow us a little freedom to choose our race without restricting our ability to play with friends, this was the whole purpose to implementing the super server.

Rethink this. An Orc can have a change of mind.. Expecially since there is no PvP in PvE.

Nope, it does effect the psychology of it whether you want to believe it or not. This is a rather old debate that has been happening for nearly a year now and not one that needs to be repeated.

The whole basis of the game is the Three sided Faction conflict. The races are what makes the factions. Take that away and you just have three random and generic factions with no real basis for existing.

Not sure if new to MMORPGS or not but having faction/race restrictions is nothing new. If they truly are your friends and you want to play together then you'll need to work it out which faction to play so you can all play together.

I know you want to stick to lore, but this isn't a single player game. Players want more freedom in an MMO. At the very least we could have the ability to renounce our former alliance & join another.

This could help balance factions also.

There is more to it then that. There is very much a visual identification that goes along with faction. Symbols are important. As I said before, you can already read up on this debate in many different places and there is no happy ending for you.

They give you 3 races per faction, 3 factions. If you can't find some sort of middle ground within those parameters, then maybe this game just isn't for you. In a perfect world they could just let you be a mercenary and work for any faction you want, but that's not how they're doing it, and they've already sort of bent a little to our demands by even letting us GO to other factions zones at all. I don't see it changing anymore than that. Its not because they're jerks, its just how they want to build their game, we can choose to play or not from there. Many of us are choosing to go ahead and play with the compromises laid out for us.

Demanding things and stomping your feet just makes you look like a child, and if that's how you're going to act then you're doing nobody any harm by leaving.

Ugh...one of THESE threads again. I thought we would see the death of the faction lock threads.

ZOS isn't going to change it ever. So if this a deal breaker for you just forget about this game and go find another to play. That's just the way it is.

Oh thank you for your wise advise old sage. What would we ever do without your powers of observation & reason.

So they aren't even going to allow us to see players of another faction? I don't really see this going over very well & I hope that atleast after release they revisit this for immersion's sake.

Lol, ya I thought the faction lock threads had finally died.

@OP

Just roll alts. Or if these people are really your friends, come together and decide as a group which faction you would like to play.

If you want to see other faction people head over to Cyrodiil and either go and kill them or "adventure" with them. And I used quotations because you won't be able to group with them, but you can still run around working together if you wanted to.

Nord says it well. You and your friends need to make a compromise and pick a faction that you all might like and play together there.
