Hi everyone,
not sure if someone has already started a thread about this, I couldn't find anything, so...
I have just looked at the unofficial "will my PC run..." thread, and saw, that steam would be required for activation. If so, why?
It is an online game, so DRM is not really necessary, right?
Will the Servers be hosted by Valve?
Is the account being made at Valve or Zenimax?
If I have to log in at Zenimax Servers, into my account there, what has Valve/Steam got to do with it?
Why should I Need Valve to be able to run a game hosted at Zenimax?
I know many of you love steam, and I refuse to use it for various reasons, but I really would like to know what 'advantage' this Setup could bring.
What I mean is... think of this:
I am sure, all of you have already bought something at a store. You have bought a product, and have either bought it itself or bought the license to use it.
How many of you had to ask the store if you were allowed to use the product you bought when arriving at home with your purchase?
This is where steam comes in.
See, you buy something via steam, and are at the mercy of this 3rd party company then. They can decide if you can use or play your purchased title, or not (e.g. locking your account for whatever reason). Why would someone want this?
Since TESO is an online game, sure, we have to rely on the company who is hosting the servers, so in this case, who is this? Zenimax? Valve? If it is valve, then I can understand it. If it is Zenimax, then I cannot understand it.
Any clarification will be welcome
