About shields

Let me first say I am extremely happy with the direction of the game and how it is looking at the moment. There are just a couple of gripes I have with the game, shields being one of them. In every gameplay video I have watched, the shields are just not what I expect of a shield. They are too small! It reminds me of shields in Rift which were also just more like a small buckler most of the time. I want tower shields and large round shields like the Spartans have, or just the same shields as in the SP games. I never had trouble with them there, but for some reason the devs think that within their art style it doesn't fit or something.. I don't know... But I really hope they will improve on this, because when I make my heavy-armored tank character, I want to be able to do epic shield bashes and protect my body from enemy attacks, not hold up some puny buckler..

What do you people think of this?

I'm sure that they will put in shields from small to very large.

I mean, why wouldn't they implement large shields? ES: Skyrim, and Oblivion had some pretty big shields, and i've always been happy with those. Pretty sure they'd take the same style of shields and twist it to fit their own direction.

If they arn't looking into making nice big shields, they should!

Good idea man.

I hope so. Would be awsome if they could add different sizes of the same shield. The bigger ones absorbing more dmg, but taking more stamina to keep up. Lighter shields absorbing less but costing less stamina?

That's something I can see them doing considering they have Light, medium and Heavy armor of the same Material.

I heard something about them using all the armor types, like Orcish/Elven etc, for 3 different breeds of it. Like Orcish can be Light, medium or Heavy? Has anyone heard if they're just generalizing the Armor types into 3 of the main categories.

Elven: Light, Medium, Heavy

Orcish: Light, medium, or Heavy?

Because in past ES games the Armor wasn't generalized. Like Cloth didn't have armor, Light armor was leather material, and the Heavy material was Daedric, Ebony, Steel, Orcish, Iron and Dwarven.

An Orcish Shield was only heavy armor.

An Ebony Shield was only heavy armor.

Are they keeping it like this? Or can any Metal be used to forge light, medium or heavy armor?

Next time when you make a comment, please elaborate on why, what and how? Thanks. Also, like Paulyfresh said, what is massive? It is a quite relative word.

I for one am really happy with the shields i've seen in the official video's...always found towering shields ugly and ridiculous in Skyrim...result: did noet even use them!
