Would you like to see a player rating system?

Post » Thu May 30, 2013 9:38 am

I know this can be a touchy topic... but rating systems if used correctly can benefit PUG groups/raids.

I purposely left out a detrimental rating as I think that could be abused. (But some A-holes need to be identified.. maybe)

When I think of a rating system being beneficial - one could look at a general score of past ratings other players gave as an indication of your good work - ie, tanking - healing - dps etc...

I'll leave it to the smart people on how to implement the system...

I would not be opposed to it, to weed out the well...rotten apples but it could lead to people only being asked to join if they are any good stat and gameplay wise which would not be a good thing if you ask me!

maybe im thinking a little different than you but while playing the game the finess system will be rating you and rewarding you during combat. Do everything correct and you are awarded more exp, gold and loot than group players who did not have a good finess score.

Not sure about PVE but for PVP there will be AVA ranks and rewards in the AVA skill trees, the ranks will show players who have achieved more and are stronger (more abilities and passive bonuses in the Fighter, Siegemaster, and Warlord skill lines)

I don't know.. you'd be surprised how vindictive people are and would down rate you because they don't like you or even for funsies. I support it if the community feels mature, but I can't condone it if the community is like WoW..

No it's only going to get abused, I'm fine with item scores though and achievements to track a persons progress.

This. It would be good in theory, but would go wrong in practice.

Ahh...I had to delete my vote. I thought the discussion was related to an internal game rating system based on gear and acheivements.

I'd not want a peer rating system at all. We don't need another popularity contest added to the world.

If they had this it would be the Gearscore of ESO so i have to vote no on this cuse Gearscore is the worst [censored] the happen to MMO's we had LOTS of players getting gear boost ( paying real cash ) and then apply to hardmode raiding guilds. we wound up taking tryouts and giving them a few tries on bosses and show what they had and checking armory/History and had a rule against using gearscore to recriut new players.

If this is part of the game its gona be
LFM for _ _ _ _ _ need Ranking of atleast 3000 of 3500 PROS ONLY. and everyone and hes mother is gona hate and get in to useless hate arguments on forum / General chat and it will turn in to what wow is now, ITEMLEVEL/GEARSCORE above skills.

So why am i against it so? Cuse new players get the feeling of being useless and have tp work 200times harder to get that "ranking" to be allowed in to guilds and thats a huge turn of for people.

Example i had a friend in WOW that played hardcoe endgame from luanch and up to ICC WOTLK and we cleared all the content and then he said [censored] it and got rid of hes account, ( Like many of my other friends too ) thing is this guy wanted to get back to gaming after about 1 year after this and we had all quit problem was even tho he was EXTREMLY good at the game and tactics and all he could not get in to a group or guild cuse from their stand point he svcked due to not having the Gearscore...See to issue here ?

Another example is when ppl racriut for a "raid" and you can only get "ranking" "GearScore" of lets say 50 in that raid and the raid wants you to have gearscore of 70..... its bad and will always be.

Ranking in pvp works yes cuse your fighting AGAINST others so lets say a ranking system of
Recriut
Soldier
captain
commander
etc
etc could work ye.. but noting like any kind of Item level. thats one thing that would DESTROY this game.

Good posts all around.

I agree anything can be abused... and agree gearscore was/is not the answer. (Gearscore only counted the armor/weapon etc score.. not the player's skill etc..)

What I would like to see happen with a rating system may not be possible... and that is to be able to look at a player's worth at a glance. Not sure how to put it in words outside that without stepping on some toes. I usually have a regular group/guild to play with, so its not that big of a deal. However, on occasion our schedules do not work out and I end up having to PUG. I really hate PUGGIN! but only have X amount of time to play on any given evening... so I PUG or do without.

I'd like to be able to tell in glance if the player(s) I'm going to group with stand a chance at clearing some content/dungeon.. whatever, of if they will more than likely waste time - if you know what I mean.

I've given some thought to this before and about the only thing I can come up with is somekind of MVP system for each group/raid etc.. that if a run was successful you could give one vote to the "MVP" - kinda like the system in SWTOR pvp matches. (Not that I agree with how it works mind you).

Maybe something like that would work... although the lack of any MPV votes could also be used to discrimminate... /sigh.
