Idea for endgame PvE

Post » Fri May 31, 2013 12:22 am

Something I'd like to see is a public dungeon, a dungeon that has multiple layers, non instanced. The further down you go into the dungeon the harder the enemies become, the faster the re spawn rates, the better items that drop; players on floor 8 could talk to anyone on floor 1 via public chat channel etc..

Different layers would have different lvl enemies up to and beyond 50++ or there could be a separate version for 50++ players to fight in.

Well they've made mention of having public dungeons in ESO before. Just haven't talked much about them.

Like the idea but have concerns that if it gets too crowded your group won't have much to do and also if your group progresses far into it another group could just leap frog you and kill a Boss you wanted. So yeah like the idea but just not sure how they can make it work so its fair and balanced for everyone.

yeah, I'm not so sure I'd put bosses into a public dungeon, maybe some rare spawns, and a few set elites that drop some of the better gear, but If someone else kills it and gets the loot you could just wait for the re spawn timer. I'd hope for enough mobs and re spawn rates that it should compensate for filling most of the dungeon regardless of how many players are in the dungeon, the first floor would obviously need a really fast re spawn and quite a few mobs, and it could gradually deplete as you go deeper until it gets to the point where monsters are plenty hard enough to fight, and the only other way to make the fight any harder and still viable is to increase the respawn rates while slightly tweaking the monster hp or something.

Overall I like the idea of having progression endgame PvE that is not Raiding.

I agree with Pangscar that I am not sure how this specific idea would work. Maybe enemies could scale depending on how many people are attacking/supporting them and maybe anyone who helps even a little bit also gets the reward (this way people would not be fighting each other for who will tag the boss mob first). It still seems open to abuse. It still a good idea overall if such problems can be resolved.

One of my worries about ESO is that dungeons will be like skyrim. While Skyrim dungeons are fun, they are simple in nature. Pretty much can not get lost, no real choices on where to go. It's all forward.

I want open dungeons with huge mazes you can get lost in, multiple levels, hidden doors, illusionary walls, pits that make you fall a level, seriously difficult puzzles, deadly traps, etc.

I too share this concern as well. The dungeons found in Skyrim would not be ideal for an MMO in MY opinion.

also, monsters in lower level could drop portal stones that take you and your party back to that level, this way you would not have to spend 3 hours every night just to go back down again.

A thing that could work is what Warhammer Online did to a few PvE dungeons. Most of the area was open to the public with trash mob groups and mini-boss mobs. Then there were Harder Bosses and the main area Boss encounters took place in a phased off area that only your group would be in. So basically a mini instance with just your group and the boss. Not a perfect solution but perhaps the most reasonable one.

Would the dungeon be part of Cyrodiil? Would there be AvA?

"better items" than what?
