the mentality of MMO's

This isn't a hateful post to bash mmo players but is to serve as a means of understanding why the majority of mmo players want restrictions on things.

I think fable 3 had a good poke at this and is where I currently stand on it "if you bring me 5 skycrystals I will forge you a level 3 skyforge sword, oh but wait im only a level to skyforge smith. I'll just go level up a bit, wait for me here"

I've never understood all the restrictions. It I can get a daedric sword at level 2, then I say well bloody done! It doesn't upset balance either in pvp because I still wouldn't be as effective as someone who has mastered the skill line and is using a dwarven sword.

Also why do most mmo Tie weapon use to the smithing skill? I personally thing smithing and weapon skill are two completely different things.

Well...if at say level 2 anyone can get said sword but for some reason "missed" it or did not get around to getting it just yet, fair game!

Balancing has nothing to do with that says i!

Not having such restrictions lead to abuse and so called "twink" low level characters

Im not sure I even came across a game that would need smithing to actually use weapons, probably your subjective experience

There are mixed issues i believe on the issue at hand.

This being one of them. Not as much of a factor in this game in particular but in some MMOs with level tiered PvP, players would gain significant advantage over other players simply by acquiring hard to obtain items with huge stat differences.

However i think more so than anything it is the more hardcoe crowd of MMO players who believe that not only stats are something to be earned and achieved but also visual representation of your characters. You will find this being represented when discussions about Micro-transaction skins for weapons and armors, clothes etc, are discussed. It is simply different perspective on gameplay, others think visuals should be player choice and others believe it should be a time sink and significant effort to have cool looking stuff. I believe in the latter personally but we all have different ideas. It is the rags to riches scenario we just don't want to see people taking shortcuts to get there.
