Naruto

So I'm a svcker for bright and shiny anime and video games that bring my cartoons to life.

In the case of "Naruto" I was drawn to the bright and shiny games made by Cyberconnect 2.

My first impressions of "Naruto" were that he was a dumb character in a stupid orange jumpsuit with a whiny voice.

But the game that most "Naruto" fans apparently hate (Ultimate Storm: Generations) actually turned me onto the main character, since in the first few levels you get a decent overview of the backstory and history of Naruto, what it means to be a Jinchuriki and his relationship with Sasuke etc...

I started watching the Shippuden series and since my wallet wasn't going to handle watching the entire Original Series (pre Shippuden) on DVD I figured I'd just check out the Manga.

What an incredible comic.

Masashi Kishimoto is an absolute genius. (Even more so when you consider what happened when all the greatest artists from Marvel and DC left to found Image Comics and tried their hand at writing)!

In a world where entertainment is trying to sell itself as "edgy" and turn villains like "Venom", "The Punisher" and "Deadpool" into 'anti-hero' heros, "Naruto" is a breath of fresh air that I believe taps into the same sense of imagination and adventure that made the original Marvel heros so great.

Hey, it's early doors. Maybe another 40 issues down the line "Naruto" will fall prey to the 'edgy trend' but for the time being I can't get enough of the stuff.

Any other fans out there?

Az

I gave up on the anime, but I still follow the manga. The manga is ok, it has a little too much flashbacks at times (a few weeks ago, I stopped reading the manga because I was tired of the 3 or 5 chapters of the First Hokage giving Sauske the full story of him and Madara).
