I'm not sure if DeVry is one of them, and I'd have to reread my sources for it since it has been a while and I want to make sure I understood it correctly, but from what I've gathered on those schools you see advertised on TV (ITT Tech, University of Phoenix, Everest, etc.) is that they're essentially student loan operations masquerading as a university. I remember reading a report of a guy who went into an ITT Tech or a University of Phoenix and was basically sold to by a recruiter as if it were insurance. Well, that's normal for schools nowadays, I say, but when he rejected their offer, they kept coming back for lower offers to make him accept. That's not normal. I think he found out his situation wasn't unique.
I take it with a tiny grain of salt, though, since the story seemed to be sensationalized (the page was all black and red with a lot of ALL CAPS, as well as attempting to incite outrage by telling us he was a VETERAN AND THEY WERE TREATING HIM LIKE THAT OMG! [nothing against veterans, but it's usually either that or THE SINGLE MOTHER OF FOUR OMG! to get people angry and act]). I kinda don't doubt it, though. I think my main worry with schools like that would be the fact (not sure if it's the case now; I know that ITT Tech straight up tells you in their ads, though) that their credits don't transfer, which I'd be leery about in my own personal situation mainly 'cause I've found myself moving a lot in my lifetime.
