New GamerHub.TV video interview and ESO DLC

Post » Mon Jun 10, 2013 12:25 pm

I've just watched on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuk53Vv6yHk

At 0:54, Matt Firror talks about ESO getting DLC in the future.

More additional fresh content is always good. I hope it will be worthy story based DLC, as opposed to "Horse Armor DLC"

I guess they will have to be purchased, as using the term DLC usually implies it.

That's the only real new info (at least for me) in this video.

DLC just means downloadable content, and until we get more info then it means just that and i wouldnt assume it means more. It could mean standered content updates that other mmos get just said in a away for the single player skyrim people can understand better or could mean that you buy new adventure zone or area packs. We just can't assume until more info is released.

I hope all of the DLC is 5 bucks worth of costumes that don't do anything, but people still buy it anyway.

It being an MMO content patches and updates are the norm and are no charge. Expansions which are basically whole games worth of new content which are generally once a year do have a cost.

Also "Adventure Zones" are just a working title for end game, they want to come up with a better name.

I know that DLC litterally stands for Downloadable Content. And I did not assume, I said I guess they would have to be purchased.

Simply because due to how DLC have been released in the past, they are most of the times perceived as additional purchasable content with all the hot debate that can sometimes be associated about them.

So when a company representative use the term "DLC" during a PR event such as a public interview, I guess he does not use the term lightly.

Furthermore and mostly: In a MMO, if new story content is freely added, it will be most likely be simply included in a client update, as it does not really make sens to have such content in a separate DLC if everybody has access to it.

Of course once again it's just a guess, but not a random one.

Yeah, I figured the genre already shifted to this. Its offical sub is dead? Well, theres still WoW but the rest of the world seems to giving it up. Im quite happy it they went with Defiance style.. Buy the game and then season pass/dlcs for extra content.

I'll change this post since people thought it was aggressive, it was not meant to be..

Just trying to say be careful about posting guesses and what not because people will take them as fact and then run it.

CCP manages to give free expansion twice a year I can't see why other companies can't do this.

Uh, lets not jump to conclusions just yet. It sounded like he was comparing expansions to DLC and saying you can expect to see more stuff added to the game later. Probably a shout out to the new MMO players that are only coming for the TES name but have never played WoW or any other game like it.

Well we already know there will be a "cash shop" for at least cosmetic items. And now that I have heard this news about DLC today, my guess is that ESO will use a Buy Once pay model, supported by micro-transactions and purchasable expansions (DLC).

So I don't feel it being subscription based, unless using a hybrid sub/f2p model like SWTOR.

TROLL IN THE DUNGEON!!!

But on a related note to the thread, if this game is a buy once model I will be the happiest guy in existence, and I will celebrate by spending more on all of the optional content than I actual would have if it was just a subscription.

yeah buy to play and pay a reasonable price (15 or 20 bucks) for patch content (dlc's) which at best happens maybe once every 3 months to at worth once every six months would be epic. All my guildees would jump on that shizznit and anyone coming from wow would too.

If its goes B2P without sub, the game will go down the same route as GW2 and after 2 month the game is dead. But i dont think they dont know that, the will have a sub based system that im sure.

But thast doesnt mean it must be standard the sub could be different like a premium User.
