Top 5 (recent) StoryCharacter driven games?

Post » Tue Jun 11, 2013 1:54 am

I've hit a wall in my gaming, I've lost interest in every game I own or have played, I recently went back to playing classics like FFT, DW3, Pokemon, etc.

So I've decided that it must be a failure on my part to find the games!

So I would like to know what are your personal "Top 5" Story or Character driven games in the last 5 years, OR of all time.

I want fun characters. (Cl4P-TP from Borderlands, Dr. Watts and Dr. Rosalene from To the Moon.)
I want a good story that feels happy or hopeful leading to the conclusion.
I want graphics for a low end laptop.
I want to have fun.

Aaaaand go.

Well I was going to say Red Dead Redemption, but you want it on a laptop...

Dragon Age: Origins. I don't know what you define as low-end but in my experience DA:O runs on a toaster if you don't mind reduced graphics.

Deus Ex (which may or may not have a happy ending depending on your choices)

Fallout 1/2 (of which 1 is very pessimistic while Fallout 2 has a very happy ending. Too happy to my tastes, even).

Planescape Torment.

Oh. You said happy... It has a good story, is that okay? It also has tons of fun characters, such as a floating skull who is a womanizer. It is about a somewhat bleak afterlife, yet has tons of great humor mixed in. It's also playable on most newer low end systems since it is more of a 90's game.

If you have a PS3 highly recommend Ni No Kuni. It has a highly happy story and a very good conclusion to it. It's also fun.

The Walking Dead Game

Though for a choose your own adventure game its pretty linear but you won't notice until you actually look for it. But its still a really good game that should defiantly be looked into.

This is probably a good suggestion. Very story driven with a lot of interaction with the characters with a lot of what you do effecting how they feel about you (in most cases anyway).
